Your Guide to Brunch in New York City

Nothing says morning — or afternoon — on a New York City weekend than brunch. There are so many excellent choices that you’ll need all 52 weekends to test just a sampling of our favorites, but here are a few to try right now. Make reservations, and go hungry!

Enid’s

Comfort food is on the menu at Enid’s. Some of the best Bloody Marys in the city, superior biscuits, cheese grits and free coffee are available while you wait for a table, making it an affordable go-to brunch spot for Brooklynites everywhere. Located on the corner of Manhattan and Driggs, Enid’s is cash only. Timeout New York suggests walking around the corner to McCarren Park afterward to sleep off your meal — and whatever you were doing the night before.

Bagatelle

When nothing but a hard-to-get reservation, an unbelievably energetic scene and fireworks will do, head straight to the West Village and book a reservation for the party that is Bagatelle. This is a beautiful people scene, so dress your best and prepare to have a lively brunch. Emerging into the daylight may seem a bit abrupt, but no worries — walk around the corner and grab a drink at the Gansevoort rooftop bar and enjoy the incredible Manhattan skyline.

Blue Water Grill

When you want to spend your brunch laughing and talking casually, make a reservation at Blue Water Grill, for years one of the best jazz brunch spots on Union Square in Manhattan. A gorgeous copper-top bar, fun ambiance, terrific service and an absolutely delicious menu make Blue Water Grill great for family get-togethers, friendly catch-ups and more. It’s lively but not crazy, and it has a great wine list. Did we mention there is jazz?

ABC Kitchen

When it comes to pedigree, few names can match Jean-Georges Vongerichten and ABC Carpet and Home. You can get both in a kid-friendly package when you make a reservation at ABC Kitchen, a “hippie” restaurant located within the world famous home goods store, also on Union Square. You’ll love the incredible ingredients, “haute green” menu vibe and seasonal offerings. Because it’s ABC, it’s also gorgeous. Afterward, check out the desserts, which bring you right into the home goods store — and isn’t shopping the perfect way to work off those extra calories?

This list doesn’t even begin to scratch the surface of brunch spots in New York. Spend your weekends exploring the city, and you’ll find dozens of reasons to love New York City living even more!
